Scott Anderson -- Course Facilitator

Scott

Scott has spent the last 33 years in aviation logging over 15,000 hours, first as a naval aviator, and then as a pilot for Northwest Airlines and now Delta Airlines. He has spent the past 24 years as an instructor, check airman, and FAA Designated Examiner. He is currently a B757/767 captain and check airman.

He graduated from the U. S. Naval Academy in 1975 and spent the majority of his career flying the A-7E Corsair, accumulating over 500 carrier landings. In 1981 he was selected to fly with the Navy's Blue Angels and spent the next 3 years performing throughout the country. He then spent the remainder of his naval career in the reserves, commanding an A-7E squadron and eventually retiring as a navy captain.

He brings over 20 years of experience developing and presenting Crew Resource Management (CRM) and Threat and Error Management (TEM) as an integral part of aviation training. He has personally observed the successful evolution and incorporation of the CRM/TEM model within commercial aviation from its infancy as a new and not overly welcomed curriculum, to the cornerstone of safe, successful flight departments.

Patrick Mendenhall -- Course Facilitator

Patrick

Patrick Mendenhall is the founder and principal director of Critical Outcome Strategies, LLC where he facilitates Crew Resource Management and Threat and Error Management training for Corporate Flight Departments.

Patrick began flying at age sixteen. He graduated from the University of Washington with a Bachelor of Science degree in Aeronautics and Astronautics in 1980 after which he worked for Boeing as a flight test engineer prior to joining the navy in 1981.

He spent eight years on active duty as navy fighter pilot and retired from the naval reserves. His duties included several leadership and management positions including a tour as an operational test pilot at VX-5 in China Lake, California. There, he was involved in various aspects of tactical and operational test and evaluation with an emphasis on human factors integration. It was here that Mr. Mendenhall was first introduced to Crew Resource Management as it relates to human factors issues.

He joined Northwest Airlines in 1989 where his flying experience concentrated on International, wide body operations; after seventeen years with Northwest, Mr. Mendenhall retired in 2006 to develop Critical Outcome Strategies, LLC.

Patrick has three beautiful daughters and resides in Tacoma, Washington with his wife, Martha.
